Buffy is going to the big screen without the rest of the TV cast. A new incarnation of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer is being developed for a film feature remake.
For those who are big Buffy-Angel fans, this news might be a little disappointing. None of the Joss Whedon-created TV series’ characters are set to reprise their roles. Meaning, there would be no Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon and David Boreanaz in the upcoming film.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the planned movie will not have any connection to the TV series. Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment are working with the original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and husband Kaz Kuzui on a re-launch of the film.
They are meeting with writers to look for a possible script for the project.
Kuzui’s film in 1992 starred Kristy Swanson and Luke Perry and was written by Whedon.
Meanwhile, Gellar and some of the TV series’ stars reunited last week, wherein they talked about a possible film that would be termed as sequel to their 1997-2001 show.
Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase, told MTV, “No one’s been formally asked to do it, but I’m sure it would be very popular.”

Brittany Murphy and David Zayas have joined the cast of Sylvester Stallone’s action feature The Expendables.
The film — which counts Stallone, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture among its cast — follows a team of mercenaries who head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator.
Murphy will play Rourke’s girlfriend, a singer. The part calls for her to perform a musical number.
Zayas will play the dictator.
Stallone wrote the screenplay and is directing the film, which began production this week in Brazil. The Nu Image/Millennium Films production also will lens in Louisiana.

This Thursday on CSI (9pm/ET, CBS), Buffyverse alumna Charisma Carpenter gets caught in the middle of a deadly love/lust triangle when a skydiver takes the plunge — and not in a matrimonial sort of way. Carpenter shared a peek at her guest-star turn — “panty party” merriment and all — and previewed her upcoming big-screen role opposite Jason Statham and other action heavyweights. She also talked about the sudden passing of Angel costar Andy Hallet.
TVGuide.com: What can you reveal about your episode of CSI? Who are you playing, what are you doing?
Charisma Carpenter: I play a slinky little character named Mink, who is a suspect in the murder of her boyfriend because there was a love triangle between her and another sexy little thing played by The L Word’s Erin Daniels.
TVGuide.com: In the promos, it looks like there’s some debate over whose boyfriend the deceased was.
Carpenter: Well, he was both of ours. So there was tension, because we were both vying for his affections and such. You know how competitive that can be. I mean, the three of them were even sharing a trailer!
TVGuide.com: Would you take offense if I go out on a limb here and say that you offed the guy?
Carpenter: Hey now! Why is everyone always picking on me?
TVGuide.com: “Sources” tell me there is a “panty party” in this episode. Is it like a Tupperware party?
Carpenter: [Laughs] No, not at all. It involves dancing around half-dressed in our little Winnebago.

It would appear that CSI has fallen hard for Charisma Carpenter — and vice versa.
The brunette beauty has been booked for a guest-starring appearance on the hit CBS procedural, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
Carpenter will play a skydiver named Mink in the episode “Descent of Man,” airing later this season. Sources describe Carpenter’s turn as both “fun and memorable.” Not unlike the actress herself.
While virtually all other Buffyverse alumni have kept busy this TV season with guest gigs on Private Practice and Dollhouse, Carpenter has filled her dance card with roles in the Sci Fi Channel original movie House of Bones (premiering sometime this year) and, most recently, the indie film Vivid (helmed by up-and-coming writer-director Reg Traviss).

The Expendables train has been chugging full steam ahead ever since it was first announced. We’ve had plenty of casting news which has left us with a group (a group that, perhaps, may still grow) of some kick-ass icons of action movies past and present.
In addition to Sylvester Stallone (who’s also writing and directing the film), we have Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Randy Couture, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Arnold Schwarzenegger (if only in a cameo appearance) Eric Roberts and Danny Trejo. While adding some Oscar-winning power and beauty to the film is Forest Whitaker and Charisma Carpenter, respectively.
Now with all this news coming out about the film, one thing which you would understandably want to know is just when is it coming out? Well the wait is finally over.
The Expendables has a release date of April 23rd 2010.

I’m hoping we haven’t seen the last of Tegan. Any word on Charisma Carpenter returning to Greek? -Rachel
We won’t see Charisma in this batch of episodes, but that doesn’t mean she’s done with the show. There’s always next cycle. We will, however, meet a few other ZBZ alums, including Frannie’s big sis who comes back to CRU for her wedding — Sean said she’s hysterical — and another former sister who will catch the eye of two of Greek’s main characters… the two I was just talking about.
